In April of 2010, 2 short years after graduating from UW Madison with a zoology degree of all things, Melanie started the first Good Food cart on the UW-Madison campus with a converted 1995 Wells Cargo trailer, a rusty old Jeep to tow it, about $0 in the bank, 0 employees, and a strong desire to bring tasty, fresh, affordable, quick and healthy lunch options to the streets of Madison. Amazingly, it worked! We quickly became a favorite in Madison’s food cart scene - earning the best evaluation scores of all the food carts in the city from about 20 food cart judges, after just 5 months of business. In 2014, we earned that coveted top spot again. In 2012, our Sweet Thai Chili was voted “best wrap” in town by the Isthmus readers, and we regularly wind up on various “Best of Madison” lists for being one of the favorite food carts and one of the best vegetarian-friendly options in town. We’ve even been featured in the Huffington Post and USA Today! In 2014, the second food cart was built and we’re looking forward to opening that second cart in early 2015!
In addition to the food carts, we run a modest catering operation specializing in corporate lunches, and we’re expanding into wedding catering and wedding food carting in 2015. Helping couples celebrate their marriage with thoughtful, fresh & fun food and top notch service - we’re excited for that. On Square Harvest you can order from our catering options. We have a small staff of strong people, an incredibly talented head chef in Gina Hall, and a loyal group of regular customers in the best city on earth. Most importantly, we have Good Food, and we certainly hope you agree! :)
